The Volkel fluteless machine taps are used for chipless production of internal threads. Ideal for both through and blind hole applications, its steam temered coating supports forming steel materials up to approx. 700 N/mm², stainless steel and zinc alloys. Typically not used with materials such as cast iron due the their brittle nature. With oil groove feature for optimum effect of lubrication of thread depth over 1.5xD. The advantages of these taps are longer endurance than cutting taps due to no need for cutting edges to wear, high possible cutting speed, high security against fracture and removing the need of swarf removal, due to its forming nature instead of cutting.
